freesolarpanelsengland.co.uk exists to answer one heavily searched, heavily abused question — can you get free solar panels in England? — accurately, even when the accurate answer is unhelpful to people selling things.
Why the site reads the way it does
For years, "free solar panels" was a genuine offer for the right household, funded through the Energy Company Obligation. That era ended on 31 March 2026 when ECO4 and GBIS closed. Most websites ranking for the phrase have not caught up, and some are actively exploiting the gap between what people remember and what now exists.
Our editorial position is simple: we describe what each scheme actually is — including the dead ones, clearly marked as dead — using rules you can verify on gov.uk, Ofgem and MCS sources. Where the truthful answer is "you will need to pay, but substantially less than list price", we say that, and show the working: 0% VAT, group buying, the Smart Export Guarantee and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme where heating is in scope.
How the site makes money
Lead introductions. If you use the eligibility checker and want a survey or quote, we introduce you to one vetted, MCS-certified installer or retrofit assessor, and that introduction may earn us a fee. That is the entire model. We do not sell your details to call centres, we do not pass you to multiple competing buyers, and we do not ask for your phone number — the checker runs on email precisely so your number cannot leak into the lead-trading economy.
The incentive cuts the right way: our reply is only worth anything to you (or to us) if the recommendations in it survive your own checking. Every scheme we cite is verifiable on an official source, and every installer we introduce can be looked up on the MCS register before you reply to anything.
Who runs it
The site is operated by SEO Dons Ltd (Company No. 16766013), a UK company that publishes a network of plain-English guides to solar, heat pump and energy-efficiency funding, and works with accredited installers across England and Wales. Questions, corrections and scheme updates are genuinely welcome at info@freesolarpanelsengland.co.uk — if we have something wrong, we would rather fix it than rank with it.
